Pamela Taylor, co-founder of Muslims for Progressive Values, wrote a good article about the double standards that exist for Muslims. The article is featured on Newsweek - Washington Post’s website:
Double Standards, Misinformation, and Vitriol
Taylor, a writer featured on the site’s Faith panel, says the following in her article:
“Our journalists need to do a better job of seeking out multiplicity within the Muslim community, even though it may be a daunting task. To present the Muslim world as a single body, unified in belief and theology, is simply inaccurate, and again, feeds into fear of Muslims who often appears like a vast community of automaton clones.
I do want to say, that a lot of this burden also falls upon moderate, liberal, and progressive Muslims. We need to be seeking out the media as well, and offering ourselves as resource people. I have found that most media professionals are delighted to find a different voice, to discover there are Muslim individuals and organizations that don’t fit the stereotypes, but reflect the true richness and diversity of Muslim society.”
Many of us Muslims tend to sit back when the media unfairly targets our people. This is, once again, a call to our people to not sit idly by when in comes to media and to realize that we can do something to create a better understanding of Islam and Muslims for the public.

The author writes: To present the Muslim world as a single body, unified in belief and theology, is simply inaccurate.
Sadly this unity is not prominent anymore but by islamic law and by the belief of majority muslims, the muslims ARE one nation.
The west is not trying to show muslims as disunited for the msulims’ gain, but its for their own motives. It is fact that the capitalist hold on the world will end when the muslims re-unite as one nation, under one ideologial state which implements only islamic law and the law made by the people from islamic references in cases the sharia has no answer.
