Yes I agree. It is strange that he drinks alcohol, but just as in real life, not all Muslims practice everything in the religion, just like all Christians and Jews do not follow all their religious rules as well.

What I found strange is that Brody drinks alcohol including whiskey. I am certainly no expert on Islam, but I thought that was strictly forbidden.

I really enjoyed the first season of homeland, as a series it is really gripping, and i am looking forward to seeing how it pans out.
On the other hand it does lean towards anti-islam, and im not just saying this because i’m a muslim but at times its almost to say if you are a muslim your a terrorist and your prepared to blow yourself up, which isn’t the case and isnt Islam. The first episode of the second season shows more of this but i wont spoil it for those who haven’t seen it.

Now maybe the writers have done this purposely to show the ignorance in people who are pulled in by what the media tells them and will later clarify the difference between extremists/terrorists and Muslims. or maybe the writers themselves are ignorant and are doing it to show muslims in a bad light i don’t know. Only time will tell

I really like the scenes where Brody prays. I hear a bit of music but it sounds reverent to me. More like a tightly held secret than a sinister thing. The cinematography and his accent really heighten the holiness of it and his dedication.

I think you are way off base with thinking the show is saying Muslim equals terrorist. In fact, they play on those assumptions. The truth is, when a man has been tortured by terrorists and decide to convert to their religion he is a likely terrorist himself.
